Making custom-printed design accessible to everyone.

Since 2006, our mission has been to make custom-printed design accessible to everyone — from homeowners personalizing a child's bedroom to Fortune 100 companies branding their corporate headquarters. We use advanced dye-sublimation printing to bond ink directly into premium fabric fibers, delivering vibrant, photo-quality prints that resist fading for the lifetime of the piece.

From one commission to five hundred installations.

What began as a single custom piece has grown into a nationwide operation — printed window shades, acoustic wall panels, and full-wall murals — serving clients who refuse to settle for ordinary.

Archival photograph — an early OrangePiel printed fabric installation in a San Francisco interior

Founded in San Francisco

OrangePiel opens its doors in San Francisco with a single press, a single client, and a single idea: that dye-sublimation could bond a customer’s own image into large-format fabric — shades, acoustic panels, full-wall murals — with archival fidelity. The first commissions ship before the year is out.

2007

SFMOMA Modern Ball

One of OrangePiel’s first large commercial creations: backlit, wall-scale printed panels produced with Stanlee Gatti Designs for the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art’s signature gala. The project proves the format at architectural scale and puts the studio on the city’s cultural design map.

Hotel Diva — custom printed roller shade in a guest room

First Boutique Hotel Commission

Personality Hotels commissions 200+ printed blackout shades for Hotel Diva in San Francisco — each guest room gets its own fashion-inspired graphic. The project becomes OrangePiel’s first hospitality proof point and the template for multi-property rollouts to come.

2014

Pixar Studios Installation

Pixar Animation Studios commissions a campus-wide run of printed acoustic wall murals using the studio’s own concept art. The project validates OrangePiel’s large-format commercial capability and cements the single-vendor shades-plus-acoustics model.

OrangePiel printed installation — shades and wall murals specified from the same order

Online Design Studio Launches

The self-service Design Studio goes live: customers upload their own artwork, configure fabric and dimensions, and receive a real-time mockup before approving the proof. Residential orders become overnight turnaround from concept to print queue.

500+ Installations Nationwide

Nearly two decades in, OrangePiel surpasses 500 completed installations across all 50 states — Fortune 100 headquarters, boutique hotels, healthcare facilities, cultural institutions, and private residences from Richmond to the Bay Area.

The people behind every shade.

Our small but mighty team combines expertise in digital printing, material science, and design to deliver products that exceed expectations.

Michael M., Founder & CEO of OrangePiel

Michael M.

Michael founded OrangePiel in 2006 with a single idea: that any image could be printed onto fabric — shades, acoustic panels, wall murals — with the fidelity and durability of fine art. His background in digital printing and industrial design still shapes every product decision and every client relationship.

Jared Y., Head of Production

Jared Y.

Jared runs the Richmond production floor, from color-matched digital proofing through final quality inspection. His standards for color accuracy and material handling are why Fortune 100 clients trust us with multi-site rollouts.

Daniel M., Creative Director

Daniel M.

Daniel brings a decade of visual storytelling and spatial design to the team. Whether the brief is a boutique hotel, a Fortune 100 corporate floor, a cultural institution, or a private residence, his job is making sure every piece we ship — shade, mural, or acoustic panel — reads like it belonged there from day one.
